Goodwood Ltd – Doing good with wood
What began as a simple initiative removing bark from playgrounds and schools has grown into a purpose-driven business focused on sustainability, innovation, and community impact.
With strong roots in farming, the founding family brought a deep respect for the land and a practical mindset to the business, helping shape Goodwood into what it is today. From the early days, the mission was clear: keep wood waste out of landfills and put it to better use. With a truck collecting untreated timber, Goodwood began transforming discarded materials into premium, value-added, recycled products.
Today, Goodwood reclaims untreated wood waste and repurposes it into high-quality, sustainable solutions including certified playground surfacing (Goodfall), animal bedding, landscape mulch, and recycled pallets. These products support schools, councils, farms, and businesses across the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Central North Island, delivering safe, practical, and environmentally responsible outcomes.
“Goodwood is a feel-good company. The world we live in is best when it’s looked after by all of us. If we look after the land, the land looks after us. We believe in doing the right thing.”
Richard Hutchinson | CEO Goodwood Ltd.
At its core, Goodwood is driven by a commitment to protecting the environment for future generations. By recycling timber and giving it a second life, the company plays an active role in building a cleaner, more circular future.
Because at Goodwood, doing good with wood isn’t just a slogan, it’s what they stand for, every single day.
