Accent Health Recruitment New Zealand

Accent Health Recruitment recruits overseas healthcare professionals for a variety of roles in New Zealand. They assist candidates in finding the ideal job to match their skills and requirements, advise on CV and interview preparation and they help with the visa application and the move to New Zealand.

What Sets Them Apart

Industry Expertise: The Accent team is made up of experienced professionals, including registered nurses and a pharmacist, who bring firsthand knowledge of the healthcare system to their recruitment approach.

Comprehensive Support: Accent assists candidates through every stage of the process—from registration with relevant New Zealand boards to immigration and relocation support, specifically within the healthcare context.

Personalised Process: Every candidate is matched with a dedicated recruiter. The journey often starts with an initial Zoom or online consultation and can extend over a year to ensure the right fit is found.

Nationwide Reach: With connections to clinics and healthcare providers throughout New Zealand, Accent consistently has capacity to take on more candidates and roles.

Reliability and Integrity: Known for doing what they say they will do, Accent values trust, transparency, and clear communication. They maintain a “follow-through” culture backed by case studies and client testimonials.

Accent Health Recruitment continues to serve as a reliable and supportive bridge between overseas medical professionals and New Zealand’s healthcare employers—committed to delivering results and building meaningful, lasting placements.

“It’s about transparency, commitment, and longevity in the business. We work closely with medical professionals and communicate in a way that ensures quick, effective responses. Our case studies speak for themselves. If we say we’re going to do something — we absolutely follow through.”

Prudence Thomson, Managing Director

The Process:

The Foundation
Accent begins by learning about each candidate’s background through a CV and short introduction. A recruiter reaches out within 48 hours to discuss goals, timelines, and answer questions about life and work in New Zealand. This early connection builds trust and ensures tailored support from day one.

The Employment Search
Once professional registration is underway or complete, Accent actively seeks out job opportunities that match the candidate’s profile. They arrange interviews, assist with preparation, and handle negotiations—staying in close contact throughout the process.

The Relocation
After a role is secured, Accent helps with visa applications and provides relocation support. Each candidate is paired with a past Accent recruit as a “transition buddy” to ease the move and offer real-world advice on settling in New Zealand.

An absolute 5* for AHR. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Kristin. She does an amazing job helping people not only in finding a job position, but also settling in. She was there for me when difficult times had come. Always there to cheer me up in this complicated process. Thank you!

Accent made the process swift and easy for myself and my family to find work and move to NZ! It felt great knowing there was support nearby during the process of making such a massive change. That was almost five years ago, and I still touch base with Accent staff intermittently for information and advice. So grateful for all they have done for me!

Hi I am a registered nurse and I came to NZ in 2021, Accent Health reached out to me during my application and Kristin was a stalwart of information, encouragement, level headedness and helped me persevere through the paperwork and obstacles right up to securing my job at the Waikato Hospital and beyond that keeping in contact even till today. I most likely would have given up, but for Accent Health.

I’m an Occupational Therapist from the UK and came to NZ in August of 2021. The process to come to New Zealand took me three months because I already had state registration. The easiest part of the process was getting a job and a visa with thanks to Accent. The most challenging part of the process was getting a spot in MIQ.My first impressions of New Zealand were everyone here is ‘your mate’, all kind and decent types. The country is so green and beautiful, and I haven’t even seen the scenic parts yet due to lockdown. The best parts of NZ are the people and the land. My teammates are uber professional but super friendly. What I miss the most is friends and family. My advice if you are planning to come to NZ is to ‘just do it’. ’m just so happy to be here and excited to travel to all the beautiful places I keep hearing about. I plan to visit Tararua hills, then Waitomo Caves, Tongariro Crossing and Lake Taupo. Followed by the Pouakai Circuit and Rotorua because I love nature. I look forward to going to South Island at some point which everyone says is stunning. I like where I live because there is lots of green space and beautiful public parks. There is so much that’s different from the UK because everything here is about contracts. It’s so limiting and bureaucratic and hard for the client and the therapist. The essential principles of OT are the same, I love visiting clients in the community and feeling confident that I have the skills to support them to achieve their rehab goals. Thanks for making things so accessible and easy for me! Yours, Grace

My name is Jen, and I am an Occupational Therapist. I came to NZ on the 10th of September 2021 from the Philippines.

The process to come to NZ took me approximately 6 months (3 months to gather requirements for my registration with the board and 3 months for the recruitment process with ACCENT, plus preparation for the big move).

Surprisingly, the easiest part of the process was finding a job offer through ACCENT. I was intimidated by the thought at first but when I started speaking to Prudence about the steps in detail and getting guidance from her, it was a breeze! She was incredibly helpful and quick to respond to my queries which gave me the assurance I needed. I was booked for a job interview less than a week after I sent the requirements to ACCENT and got the job offer a week after! To be honest, it did catch me off guard how quick it was, but it was a pleasant surprise for sure.

My Name is Vijaya, and I am a Physiotherapist. I came to New Zealand on the 18th of March 2022 from South Africa. The process to come to NZ took me 1 year, 6months and the easiest part of the process was obtaining a job. The most challenging part of the process was waiting for passports.

I absolutely loved the beauty and safeness I felt immediately. The people I encountered were very helpful. The best parts for me are the safety and freedom the country offers me and my family. The beauty around us is a big bonus. I love the peacefulness and beauty. We feel very safe taking walks and public transport is easily accessible.

I plan to visit all parts of New Zealand, but I want to start with Rotorua and Queenstown because I have been told how beautiful the places are. I definitely miss my family and friends the most.

My advice if you are planning to come to NZ is that you must be open minded and understand that it is going to be very different from your home country. And you should embrace the culture of NZ, and not consistently compare countries, because they both have pros and cons, but it is what you make of it that matters.

The work/life balance has been one of the best parts of moving to NZ. I do not work weekends anymore which is amazing. The work culture is so different here in the sense that family time holds great importance and is never sacrificed.

Hayley at Accent was absolutely amazing in helping and encouraging me. She regularly checked in on me during the entire process and supported me when I felt frustrated. Her guidance definitely helped me secure my job.

My name is Firdaus. I came to NZ from Singapore in June 2022 with my wife Farhanah and our 2 children. We are both Radiographers/Medical Radiation Technologists (MRT).

The entire process took us about 6 months from the time we first applied to our visa approval. The easiest part of the process was the job search but the most challenging was applying for our professional registration with the MRTB and compiling the required documents.
ACCENT Health Recruitment has helped greatly in terms of the job hunt and the move itself. Kristin, our recruiter, was very knowledgeable and took great care in getting to know us both, our experience, and our preferences in work location in NZ. Kristin also helped to arrange for our interviews with the hospital, the preparation and the follow up of the entire process. She would periodically check-in with us to ask how we are even after we have settled in which was something we really appreciated as we did not know anyone here.

Our first impression of NZ was how calm it is here. What I specifically like is being able to slow down and take my time to enjoy the scenery. The area we live in is not a typically busy area and the neighbours are friendly. We do miss Singapore at times especially the food variety they had.

The easiest part of the process was job seeking and the most challenging part of the process was COVID which caused a delay in the processing of important documentation.

Accent Health Recruitment was there from day one. Not only did they ensure I had several job interviews but they checked in regularly to see how I was doing on a personal level. Prudence was my recruiter and she guided and supported me from day 1 (she still does). Professional, warm and friendly is how I would describe the level of service from Prudence and her team. The easiest part of the process was applying for the job. The most challenging part of the process was leaving our comfort zone and exploring new places. Lots of things to learn about a new country (housing, renting, working and education). But Accent Health Recruitment really helped in those aspects.

Accent Health Recruitment gave great advice on where to relocate to in New Zealand especially since we have children below the age of 5. We’ve only knew about Auckland but with their help, there are more places we could explore for employment. They followed up with us pre and post job interviews such as how to write resume following New Zealand standard and questions future employees might ask. Even after we have settled into normal life here in New Zealand, they still check up on us. Truly an awesome recruitment agency.

My Name is Rebecca. I am a Physiotherapist. I came to NZ in December 2022 from the USA. I started working with ACCENT in June 2022, accepted a job offer in August 2022 and arrived in NZ in December 2022. The process to become registered with the physio board took me a long time but I decided to complete that before looking for a job.

The easiest part of the process was working with Hayley who made the job search and visa process much easier than it could have been. Making the decision to do it was pretty easy too.

The most challenging part for me was registering with the physio board. Since the NZ health system is so different from the USA system it took me a while to gather sufficient evidence for my application. I know there have been several changes since I applied but I started working on that in August 2018 and finally sent my application in January 2020. Due to COVID everything was delayed but I was finally approved in December 2020 and decided to delay the move until the border restrictions were eased.

Hayley worked with me to find a job that fit exactly what I was looking for. It was really helpful to have guidance to find the right job offer as well as with the visa process. I am still working for the same company over a year later.

Our family of four moved from the USA to Christchurch, New Zealand. Packing up your entire life and moving to the other side of the world with a 2-year-old and 4-year-old is no easy task. The months before we left and after we arrived were some of the most stressful of our lives. However, now that we are settled in, we are so happy that we made the move. We absolutely love our new lives in Christchurch!

Prudence from Accent was really helpful in making this move happen. She was able to find both my husband and I amazing jobs in the same city, at the same time (which we didn’t think would be possible)! Thanks to her help, our timeline with securing jobs, getting our visas in order, and moving worked out perfectly.

Prudence’s support continued after we arrived. She and her team greeted our jetlagged family at the airport, drove us to our Airbnb, and left us with a bag of groceries. She continued to check in on us those first few months to make sure we were happy and settling in well. She even put us in contact with other local families with young children who had also recently made the move- it helped give us a sense of community in our new home!

Hi, I’m Christine and I am an Anaesthetic Technician (ODP) from Liverpool, UK.

The whole process took approximately 4 months (I think, it’s all a blur) and the easiest part of the process was joining Accent Health Recruitment. Prudence was so helpful and a fountain of knowledge for all my questions! The most challenging part was organising my life into boxes to store, ship and sell – that was quite stressful.

I had already been to NZ as a student on a placement at Wellington hospital, so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. I knew I was making a lifestyle choice.

The best bits about NZ are the people – everyone is so friendly and helpful. Both in work and in general, people have more time to just sit back and enjoy the scenery with a glass and chat about the day. Also the scenery here is fab, the water sports, the coffee is to die for and the wine isn’t too bad either.

I have managed to bag myself a wonderful apartment on the waterfront, in a very lovely area of Wellington – I do not believe I would have been able to achieve this back in the UK. It’s true what they say about Wellington, that it’s the coolest little capital in the world.

My name is Lorraine, I am currently practising as an Anaesthetic Technician, (or Operating Department Practitioner for you in the UK). I have been qualified for 10 years.

My husband Chris and our Jack Russell Terrier (George) arrived in New Zealand in May (on my dad’s birthday!). We have settled in Wellington. We put our house on the market in February and had sold in July, the whole process took us less than 12 months, from selling to arriving!.

The part that proved the most challenging was getting all my paperwork sorted for my NZ Registration, contacting different people for different things. Everything else was surprisingly easy!

We landed on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Wellington, we did have some reservations about coming to a Capital City (would it be too large? Too busy?) These reservations couldn’t have been further from the truth, it did feel big to begin with, but now it feels comfortable – cosmopolitan without the disadvantages of a large city.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to Merryl and the Accent Health Recruitment Team, your help, knowledge and support has been invaluable. Merryl did a fantastic job, looking for jobs and listening to what I had to say, and coming up with other suggestions. Her help also extended to other things not just jobs, but to great cafe’s, along with other things! Thank you again.

The whole process took well over 2 years from my first contact with Prudence and her team to finally landing on New Zealand soil.

The easiest part was securing a job. Prudence and her team really took on board the lifestyle we wanted and pointed us in the right direction. The interview itself was very laid back, it didn’t really feel like an interview.

The most challenging aspect was definitely the application for visas

Accent were so helpful every step of the way, including getting me an interview, interview preparation, applying for registration and APC, applying for Visa, looking for accommodation in NZ, etc. They always responded to my emails promptly and even called me before and after to my interview to wish me well and see how it went.

My name is Nicola and I am working as an anaesthetic technician in New Plymouth.

I arrived with my partner from the UK at the beginning of September 2015. However, I have lived in New Zealand before and was placed in a job through Accent Health Recruitment in 2008 where I worked in Whangarei until I returned to the UK in 2013.

This time the process took about eight months from contacting Accent again. We had to wait for my partner’s residency to come through, in which we applied through the partnership category and to sell our house in the UK.

I would say the easiest part was getting the job in the place where we wanted to be, this was lucky! The hardest part (which we always laugh about) was cancelling our phone bill in the UK! Some things that seem to be easy, weren’t!

I had already lived in NZ, but was hard for us both to leave our families and knowing if you are making the right decision, but if you don’t do it you won’t know if you have made the right decision or not! It is certainly proving a challenge for my partner as he is in his late fifties and gave up a good job for the unknown.

I am an ODP (Anaesthetic Technician) who emigrated in December 2018 from Scotland to Auckland, NZ after a 7 month process with AHR.

The easiest part of the process was probably getting offered a job thanks to AHR. The most challenging part of the process was dealing with immigration and trying to establish timescales of when the visa would arrive so I could get a definitive start date for the job.

In Scotland I worked for the NHS whereas here in NZ I work in the private sector. There are definitely big differences, however the support I have received from my colleagues has been really helpful in making the transition as easy as possible .

I came with a varied background mostly in anaesthetics, the policies, equipment and the anaesthetic machines are all very similar or the same which has helped.

While there are some differences between work in NZ and back home,
even the different hospitals I worked for in Scotland did things differently, every theatre suit has its own little idiosyncrasies. There is a lot more opportunities for career progression in NZ compared to Scotland.

We have been in New Zealand since April this year and have been working now for 6 weeks, and enjoying new challenges. The whole process took us approximately 12 months from start to finish, mainly the delay for us was selling our house, once sold the process literally took 3 months from finding a suitable job that fitted both our needs thanks to Accent, and arriving in New Zealand.

The easiest part of the process was going to the Expo in Manchester and speaking to the team, filling out their paperwork and from there we were kept informed of everything that was required for us to make the move. Prudence was a real star when it came to keeping in touch through Skype.

Hey fellow future New Zealand adventure seekers! I’m Lucy, an ODP, now Anaesthetic Tech (AT) originally from Leeds in the UK now living and working in Wellington NZ. I arrived in NZ September 2nd 2019. I first contacted Prue and Hayley from ACCENT HR back in January with the plan to arrive in early September, this time frame was rather generous to get things sorted but it meant nothing was done in a rush or panic.

I felt the whole experience was pretty easy. I got a working holiday visa, which was a short application form. Hayley was always an email away to give advice and help on the move. Hayley got me an interview more or less straight away when the time was right to start applying for jobs, she took the time to understand why I was moving to NZ and found me a job using her contacts that fit my needs.

My name is Vikki and I’m an Anaesthetic Technician (ODP). I moved to Palmy (Palmerston North) on March 1st 2019. The process only took 6 months to make the move, but for about 10 months before this I researched why I wanted to move to New Zealand, the difficulties, where I’d like to settle/start and then the planning involved.

The easiest process was choosing Accent Health Recruitment, I had researched them online before a friend recommended the company and highly recommended Prudence. The most challenging part of the process was selling my flat, the sale was not completed until I had been here a month, which was quite stressful.

My first impressions of NZ was the ease of everything, the people are helpful and friendly, and things move at a much slower pace so if you are in a rush to get something done, people have time for you to help make it happen. In Palmy there is also a lot less traffic which makes life much less stressful when trying to get from A to B.

The easiest part of the process was finding a job! Once I had decided where I wanted to live (not an easy choice to make), Prudence from ACCENT came back with a job interview for me really quickly. The most challenging part of the process was collecting all my paperwork for my professional registration, there was just so much! My advice if you are planning to come to NZ is be organised, there’s a lot to do. I had a to-do list and worked through it systematically.

My first impressions of NZ were that the people are the friendliest I’ve ever met, I came on my own not knowing anyone and I have been so well supported by everyone I have met. The weather currently is also a real highlight as it’s summer! The seasonal fruit and veg is also great, I’m sure it tastes better!

My name is Andrew and I am an Operating Department Practitioner from Tottenham, North London. I arrived in NZ in June 2019 where I began work as an Anaesthetic technician in Auckland, New Zealand.

This move has been ongoing since 2015. We were tired of the struggles of London life and it just became too expensive and not feasible to own a home or build a good life. We considered moving outside of London but would not have improved our relationship or working lives. So we looked further afield and considered a few options ie. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Australia. But we decided NZ would be the most fiable option that matches our lifestyle and future goals. We came over for a holiday in February 2018 and travelled the North Island. We came to see for ourselves if NZ was as advertised and rumoured to be. We spent the time having a look and feel where we’d like to settle and find a home.

We finally managed the move in 2019 and it has not failed to be the reality we had dreamt of as a family. Finding a job was the easiest part; ACCENT helped with employment and advised on how to take things forward in terms of finding migration agents to complete the necessary paperwork – which was quite tedious and requires patience and time!

I’m Calum, an Operating Department Practitioner from Birmingham, U.K., and have been working as an Anaesthetic Technician in Auckland, NZ, since May 2019.

I used Accent Health Recruitment Agency to get the job, and they were great with advising on all things emigration. I came on a working holiday visa, however I have applied for a work to residency visa. I had never been to NZ before, but had a small bit of knowledge about the country, mainly through watching sport and reading travel books before I came out. The lifestyle is what appealed to me mainly, I love the outdoors, sport and a laid back life, all of these things I thought NZ could provide. Before I came out, I asked lots of questions to my work, the job recruitment company and people who I knew had been/were in NZ, doing the job I do or other jobs, so I would know what to expect.

The easiest part of the process was the visa application. It only took a day or so, but this was because of the visa I applied for, whereas the professional registration took a few weeks, just because of the amount of paperwork I had to complete. Once I had all my registration, I had an interview and job within 2 weeks.

Prudence at Accent Healthcare helped a lot with our immigration process and did the rest of the relocation steps ourselves. At the time of applying for residency, it seemed like there was a lot of paperwork and things to arrange, look up and pay for. You’re allocated a case worker so the process is made easier by dealing with the one person who is familiar with all your details.

We genuinely feel privileged to live in NZ. We love the long summers, the balmy evenings and the can do attitude. Some difference from the UK is that it’s less of a rat race. Having worked in the healthcare system back in the UK and over here there is definitely less of a hierarchy/class system with consultant doctors and the rest of us. We tend to spend much more of our leisure time outdoors than we ever did in the UK.

I became aware of Accent Health Recruitment at a NZ Expo and made contact with them to help me to find a job as a midwife in either Christchurch or Dunedin.

I had an initial interview with Kristin in London and she was able to use her local contacts in Christchurch to arrange a telephone interview with the Charge Midwife Managers at Christchurch Women’s Hospital. It was strange being interviewed when I was sitting in my kitchen in the UK at ten o clock at night but I was successful and a verbal offer was made that night!

This process was extremely well coordinated by Accent Health Recruitment and the extra email and telephone contact from them gave me confidence and support at what was probably the most tentative part of the emigration journey.

Accent Health Recruitment also made our arrival smooth – arranged our initial accommodation, had a phone with NZ sim set up and made sure I got in touch with my new employer and provided helpful information where and how to look for a rental in Timaru. I felt I could always turn to Prudence and her team with any question regarding our big move and that gave us a great sense of support and reassurance. It is the quality of the assignments I look for when I take a job, and nursing in NZ has been one of my best assignments ever as far as work atmosphere and the quality of my working peers goes. Hi, my name is Bill and I am a US travel nurse specialised in emergency care.

I arrived in NZ in June after a 15 month tour of work in Australia, but am originally from the USA. The process to come to NZ took me a matter of months – I’d always wanted to come to NZ so I initially registered here with the NZNC several years ago, and I have made it to NZ this year with my wife.

The easiest part of the process was getting the actual job as the recruitment consultants helped a lot. The most challenging part of the process was gathering up all the initial paperwork required for the initial registration application, then the visa.

The easiest part of the process was getting the job! Merryl let me know which hospitals had vacancies and gave me loads of options. I was lucky enough to be able to visit the towns and cities to see which had vacancies and determine whether I would be happy to live there! The day before I had my Skype interview I had a practice one with the lovely Merryl. The practice interview meant I offloaded all the anxiety about completing an interview on Skype. As a result I was much more relaxed when I had my real interview the following day and actually enjoyed it!

Hi there, my name is Bernadette. I am a Registered Nurse and I worked as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner in ED for the NHS in the UK before coming to NZ.

When I initially came to NZ in 2013, I worked as a Registered Nurse at an Urgent Care Facility in Christchurch. Then in early 2015 I obtained the Clinical Nurse Leader post there and love it!

The nursing profession in NZ differs greatly from the UK. Advanced nursing roles were well established back in the UK, in NZ there are only a handful of Nursing Practitioners. The NP role in NZ is not an easy pathway to take on and would have meant that I had to start again with studying at Masters Level as my skills as were not transferable. Initially I started the process and obtained a level 8 paper in Advanced Health Assessment before I obtained my current post.
The easiest part of the process was, (once I had made the decision to emigrate) the step by step advice from Accent Health Recruitment. It was good to trust that I was getting the right advice I needed at the right stage.

Hi everyone.
My name is Wiebke and I am a registered nurse. I am originally from Germany and have lived the past 6 years in Cornwall/UK with my hubby Tim, the Cornish man.

Two and a half years ago, Tim and I decided we would like to settle down in New Zealand. We both spent over 12 month there on a work and travel visa ten years ago and this is where we actually met: at cape kidnappers on a golf course working as green keepers; as you do.

It was good that we gave ourselves a two year window to get everything sorted, because it took us about 23 month. The longest bit was getting my nurse registration. As I have trained in Germany, the nursing collage found it difficult to provide the correct paperwork. So it went back and forth a little bit and then my police certificate run out and so on and so on. I hindsight I could of probably been a bit more organised but I did not think it was overall that difficult. Nevertheless, with perseverance and help from Accent Health Recruitment and our visa adviser I had it in my hand after about 13 month. The rest of the time was selling the house, organizing shipment and of course getting that job offer!!!!

Merryl has been an incredible help. She knows everything!!! She prepared me so well, that I nailed my first interview and got a job offer. She gave me lots of tips and advice and even skyped me just before the interview to see if I am still breathing and that there was no dirty laundry in the background. LOL.

As my role is very specialised, I was worried I would never be able to get a job in NZ. The emigration process is frustrating but stick with it. I used to go onto the Down Under webinars wondering why we weren’t getting anywhere with the whole thing but suddenly things fell into place and we moved very quickly once the VISA’s were through.

During my training as a midwife I knew I wanted to work abroad with my job. I decided early on that the heat and creepy crawlies in Australia were enough to put me off living there; so I decided to give New Zealand a go after hearing only amazing things about it.

The team at ACCENT Health helped me to find a job before I left the U.K. and put me in touch with ASB bank to set up a bank account upon arrival. I saved for a couple of years before moving to cover my costs; however I found it a great help knowing I had a job lined up beforehand as it took off a lot of financial pressure. The registration process to become a registered midwife in NZ was lengthy, but the visa application process was thankfully very easy and only took about a week to arrive. My absolute first impression of NZ was HUMID! As my family and I got off the plane in Auckland, the humidity was a bit suffocating, but it improved as we went South. We got on another plane to Christchurch where we did MIQ. The weather was warm, tolerably humid, and the air was so clean and fresh. The other thing that struck me was how few sirens we were hearing compared to Los Angeles–and our MIQ hotel was near a big hospital! After getting out of MIQ and being in normal life, I was struck by how amazing the country really is. I’m surrounded by people who care about each other and the environment. As we’ve done some traveling, I’m in awe of the landscapes–the photos don’t do it justice. I can finally see the stars at night again and it makes me so happy!

Lockdowns made the process difficult, especially the need to settle documents both from the Philippines and Singapore, however with the help of Prudence she made the process much much easier. Getting a job was never an issue. Prudence got a job interview for me, and I was hired right there and then. (She was even around during my interview ☺ )

My first impression of NZ was how beautiful the sky is. Weird as it sounds but it’s true. I loved that it is pretty laid back and has stunning sceneries. Heaps of beautiful places to hike, explore and will always be in awe of the landscapes. I have already visited quite a number of places and Christchurch will always be home for me 😍.

My name is Grace, a registered nurse from the UK, originally from the Philippines. My whole family arrived in New Plymouth, New Zealand on the 24th of May 2022. The whole process of coming to NZ took me two years from the time I started preparing for my English exam (OET), CGFNS application, and NCNZ registration.

The easiest part of the process was getting a job offer. Thanks to expert Hannah from AHR, who has made my job hunt and interview a really quick and easy task for me. I even had a great job opportunity offer out of that which was amazing. However, the most challenging part was completing all the documents required for the nursing registration. This is due to the pandemic that makes it so difficult. As soon as I got the job offer everything went so quick as AHR guided me every step of the way.

My name is Kay and I am a registered nurse from Singapore. My country of origin is Myanmar. I came to Auckland on the 18th of July, 2022. The process to come to New Zealand took me around six months.
I started off with CGFNS application, followed by registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. I would say that CGFNS application was the most challenging stage because there was so much effort involved in getting all the documents verified. While waiting for the NCNZ’s case manager to assess my application, I contacted ACCENT Health Recruitment as recommended by my friend from Wellington.

My recruiter, Hannah, responded to my email and set up ZOOM meeting to guide me through the whole process. Thanks to Hannah, I found a suitable job within a short period of time. I believe ACCENT’s workflow ensures that the candidate as well as the necessary documents are well-prepared for the upcoming interviews. Hence, hunting job was extremely smooth and definitely the easiest part of my migration journey. Hannah continued to guide and support me until I settled in my new job.

Thank you, Kristen, for all your help with my recruitment process, despite the time differences she was always ready to answer my questions whether that was via email, telephone, or WhatsApp. She arranged my job interviews and sent my CV out to prospective employers. Incredibly patient and supportive during times where I felt like giving up because it is honestly not a fast process and can be incredibly daunting to be begin with.

My first impressions of NZ were that it was Beautiful! The scenery is absolutely stunning it’s very different to the UK – more so than I imagined so be prepared for the culture shock. Everyone has been so friendly; I’ve had a colleague let me borrow a car and surplus crockery donations and dinner invitations and been made to feel very welcome as a whole.

My name is Birgitte (most people call me Gita). I’m a theatre nurse. I came to New Zealand in May, 2022 from the United States. The process took me 10 months (I had to get my Bachelor of Nursing degree in order to practice in New Zealand, which I did at an accelerated pace online).

The easiest part of the process was the interview! I had one interview in my preferred location and was offered the position. The most challenging part of the process was dealing with CGFNS, the company that vetted my credentials. All credentials had to be sent via snail mail and the paperwork they require is painfully specific. It took several months for them to complete my application and forward it to New Zealand Nursing Council. Accent Health supported me every step of the way in this process. Prudence is my recruiter and there is no way I could have done this without her. She answered every email quickly, answered all my questions (probably the same ones multiple times), and calmed me down when I was freaking out!

I couldn’t have done it without ACCENT Health Recruitment, they told me what to do and when – and pushed me when I needed to be pushed. My recruiter was Prudence (aka my guardian angel).
My first impressions of NZ were that it was extremely welcoming and friendly people, and an insanely beautiful country and SO clean!! I specifically like the work-life balance and amazing nature just around the corner. I can’t choose the best parts of New Zealand!

The easiest part of the process was looking at employment opportunities, interview and accepting the job. The most challenging part of the process was going through the Nurse Practitioner international application process for registration in NZ with the Nursing Council. The process was very long and time consuming for an internationally trained and qualified health care professional. Added a lot of stressful moments during my first year in NZ.

From day one Prudence from ACCENT Health Recruitment was awesome. Great communication and support. Very informative with tips and important details during this process. Quick to respond and offer advice.

I think I first contacted Prudence around April of 2019, but my family and I had been thinking of moving to NZ for years. It was not a decision we took lightly.

The easiest part of the process was the long flight with air NZ from Texas to Aukland with two kids! Air NZ was really fabulous, we booked two sky couches and the babies slept most of the flight! The most challenging part of the process was selling everything in the states and saying good bye to family and friends.

NZ is so beautiful and people are so kind. The people, culture and lifestyle are easily the best parts about it. It really is as wonderful as you dream it to be.

My first impressions of NZ were incredibly beautiful landscapes and nature, plants, trees, birds, beaches. We arrived in summer and weather was very pleasant: warm but not too hot as the nights are bringing cool air to refresh. People are relaxed, easy-going, friendly, curious, always in for a chat or lending a helping hand. We soon found out that punctuality is more relaxed too; if someone promises it will be done in 2 days, you might as well think it could easily be 4 or 5 days or not happen at all.

What I love about NZ is the incredible landscape and very easy going people.
My patients are very appreciative of my time and expertise, curious about my personal history and respectful of my time.

Still adjusting to a new location but I think with time I’ll really love the improved work/life balance. The doctors I work with understand the importance of life outside of work. They were approachable and helpful in every way from the first initial contact, process of applying for the license and visa, shortlisting suitable jobs opportunities, preparation for interview, arrival and settling in to the country and start of work. Even after that, they continue to keep in contact and provide support when needed. I highly recommend Accent Health Recruitment as a valued New Zealand business.

Prudence and her team at Accent have been incredibly supportive and wonderful right from the start of my journey moving from Singapore to NZ. From obtaining with my nursing license registration, to setting up interviews, and guiding me through the rigorous visa application process — they’ve been there every step of the way. I’m truly grateful for their dedication and assistance.

I felt supported and cared for from the beginning to the end, I felt like they were part of my family so much so that I wanted to continue having a relationship with Pru when I got to NZ! I didn’t want to cut the cord. Clear communication on how to prepare for the interview, how to navigate settling in NZ, what to expect when I got here. Pru made this daunting exercise so much easy. They got me a job that matches my experience and qualifications! Words can never describe how much gratitude I have for Accent Health They care! They are just exceptional.

Extremely knowledgeable and professional, with phenomenal knowledge of the job market for healthcare workers in NZ. Prue is a wonderful communicator. I’m still in the process of looking for a job (my medical registration is still pending), but I’ve spoken with other doctors who ACCENT have placed, and they’ve all assured me that Prue and team helped all through the process, including settling in once they have a job and have moved. ACCENT have made this very daunting process seem manageable and achievable. I have complete trust in them!

Prudence and ACCENT played a huge role with my life now. Way back 2020, in the midst of pandemic, i made a life changing decision. Was it easy? Nope! BUT Prudence went above and beyond to help me overcome EVERYTHING and i mean every single thing. Came to NZ knowing not even a single soul, Prudence was there for me. She made it possible. So yeah, trust your future with them and it will be brighter and more beautiful! ❤️ Forever grateful ?

We recently worked with Accent Health to recruit a General Practitioner from the Netherlands, and the entire experience was outstanding. Prudence, our main contact, was fantastic to work with – always professional, responsive, and genuinely invested in finding us the right doctor for our team. Thanks to her efforts, we’ve welcomed a lovely doctor who has settled in beautifully. I highly recommend Prudence and the team at Accent for anyone looking for medical recruitment support.
