We are thrilled with the educational and opportunities Matahui School is providing for our son and are looking forward to the enrolment of our daughter.

Just the best! Now that my older child is a Year 10 at college, I can see all that she learned at Matahui shining through. Not only is she doing well academically, but all her college teachers are impressed with how motivated she is to learn, and how mature she is in her outlook. Matahui has also helped our younger child to build his self-esteem and prepare him very well for college.

Such a lovely school where everyone is valued and soft skills are taught. The teachers go above and beyond to meet the needs of the students and the children get exposed to so many different learning experiences inside and out of the classroom.

Matahui has transformed our son. Not only did his language/speech development improve his confidence has surpassed all expectations. The inclusiveness, the teachers (esp Whaea Deb), the other families that send their kids here, all add to a positive learning experience we all want for our kids. Our son loves going to school and the bush school/day tops it off. Mrs Woods and her team are amazing, open to communicate and have the kids’ best interest at the forefront of all that happens for the school. Only wish I was able to go here when I was a younger.

My son only started at Matahui this year but already we can see the difference in him and how much he is enjoying his new school. The small class sizes and the inclusion for all, not just the favourites or those more inclined to put themselves forward, has made a world of difference to him in his social and academic development. His individual needs are being met and most importantly they ‘understand’ him. He told us he loves it at Matahui.

Within one week of moving my son to Matahui he was unrecognizable. The ability and balance between teaching
and giving kids their individual needs and combining it with nature is amazing.

Having been a student and now seeing our child start at Matahui, it is awesome to see that the magic of the school continues. I don’t know how many kids have a count down a week before school starts back because they are so excited to return for the new year….but ours did.

We chose Matahui School because it’s independent. They aren’t shackled by the Min of Education cirriculum and those standards. The Education is in fact better and the standards higher. Classes are capped and small, Our six Y/O does reading, math etc Mon-Weds, Languages & Music Thursday, while Friday is a Forest School program. As parents we want our children to have better opportunities than we did and Matahui School provides that.

Wonderful and supportive learning environment. I completely trust that the teachers and staff have my children’s best interests at heart. They are always open, approachable and knowledgeable.

Matahui School has been awesome for both my kids. Each student is treated as an individual, and learning is tailored to their particular needs. Students build up ALL the skills they need for life (eg. self-esteem, confidence, enthusiasm to learn), not just those that can easily be measured.

We love Matahui School. The transparency, honesty and genuine care for the students are some of the fundamental elements that contribute to it being such a trusted place to send our precious children to. We are incredibly grateful to the school and all involved who make it such a special place.

Fantastic small school with a family feel. All the staff care deeply about the children and support multiple learning methods. The education outside the classroom is stella. The location, buildings and land are very attractive and inviting. Highlyecommend this lovely school (have twin boys ages 11 1/2 who have been there since year 2)
