Packing Services
EastPack has always aimed to deliver Growers the highest bankable returns possible. This philosophy is supported by EastPack’s packing strategy to achieve the highest possible Class 1 fruit packout. In order to achieve this objective EastPack has invested in the latest fruit grading technology:
- Spectrim – EastPack are the first kiwifruit Post-Harvest operator in the world to use the latest Compac camera grading technology, Spectrim. Spectrim delivers pin-point grading accuracy which enables EastPack to take advantage of Class 1 grade tolerances. This means Growers can feel confident in getting the maximum amount of Class 1 trays from each bin of kiwifruit.
- Near Infradred (NIR) – Kiwifruit taste is measured by Dry Matter content, and taste requirements are increasing as the market demands better and better tasting fruit. NIR grading technology has the ability to measure; Dry Matter, Brix content, fruit pressure, and colour. NIR gives Growers the ability to recover a percentage of fruit from size groups which have failed to meet Dry Matter requirements. Growers tell us this makes all the difference to their financial results.
